Stonewall 40th Anniversary

Between June 26th and June 28th, several organizations in Virginia will be holding events to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Stonewall. This is our opportunity to honor our common heritage, share our history and what we've learned, and support those who support the community. We, the GLBT community and our straight allies, ask you to take a moment the last weekend in June to celebrate Stonewall. To see the growing list of events, click here.

Equality Virginia Announces Appointment of New CEO
EV's Board of Directors announced today that it has appointed Jon Blair as the organization's new Chief Executive Officer. Blair succeeds Dyana Mason, who departed Equality Virginia on December 31st, 2008 after nearly six years of distinguished service. (read more...)

Washington Blade covers EV's Recent Polling on Job Discrimination A large majority of Virginia residents believe gays should be allowed to hold government jobs and be protected from workplace discrimination, according to a new poll from Equality Virginia.
The poll, published Dec. 10, found that 90 percent of Virginians support the right of gays to work in the government, and 87 percent back protections from anti-gay workplace discrimination. A smaller majority, 79 percent, believes gays should be allowed to teach in public schools. (read more...)
