transgender Virginia speaks

We’re launching I Am: Transgender Virginia Speaks this fall!

The purpose of the I AM : Transgender Virginia Speaks program is to to raise awareness about the diversity that exists within transgender communities. It gives a voice to transgender individuals, as well as their families, friends, and allies.

Together we can make our own media and continue to make a positive change in the representation of transgender people. We do this by focusing on the full individual. Transgender people come from a range of experiences and backgrounds, including age, race, ethnicity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.

This is the space to empower yourself and your community by sharing your own experiences.

Share your story as a transgender person, family member, or ally and together, we can make our own media and continue to make a positive change in the representation of transgender people.

Do you need some inspiration? Watch some of the amazing videos from TransPeopleSpeak, a project of Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.

Please start your video with a few “I am” statements. For example, “I am a mother; I am a nurse; I am a cat lover; and I am also a transgender woman.”  What would you like your “I am” statements to be?
